Mt Hutt Bunkhouse Backpacker Lodge & Cottage is located on 8 Lampard Street in Methven, opposite the Mobil petrol station and within a very short walk to the centre of town.

Methven, also known as the Mt Hutt Village, is the accommodation base for Mt Hutt Ski Area, a 30 minute drive away.

The town is located just off the Inland Scenic Route 72, a scenic highway that links Christchurch to Geraldine, Lake Tekapo, Mt Cook, and Queenstown.

Visitors can also access Methven via SH1 via Ashburton or Rakaia.

From Christchurch head south on SH1 to Rakaia. In Rakaia turn right onto Elizabeth Avenue, continue straight at the roundabout to stay on Elizabeth Avenue which soon turns into Rakaia Barrhill Methven Road. Approx 33 kms later the road turns into Barkers Road and from there you are only approx. 2.5kms from town. At the end of Barkers Road turn right onto Hall Street and then right onto the main street (SH77). Lampard Street is the first on your left.

From Christchurch take SH73 to West Melton, continue along SH73 (West Coast Road) for about 8 kms and then turn left onto Bealey Road, crossing the railway line and heading right to stay on Bealey Road, and head to Hororata. At the roundabout in Hororata turn left onto Cordys Road and follow your nose to the SH77 intersection via Milnes Road and Leaches Road. At the SH77 intersection turn left and travel through the stunning Rakaia Gorge. At the top of the south side of the gorge turn left onto Mount Hutt Station Road to Methven. In town turn right onto Lampard Street by the Mobile garage.

Turn onto Moore Street at the Mitre 10 & McDonalds intersection and follow this road, which turns into the Methven Highway (SH77), out of town and to Methven. Turn left onto Lampard Street, opposite the Mobil Garage.
